Benefits of Registering
Whether you are registering yourself or the person you support with the Safely Home program, there are a number of benefits for everyone involved.
1. Easy identification of the person who is lost
When a person with memory loss is missing, police are able to check the information on the person's bracelet. The bracelet includes a registration number that can be entered into the national RCMP database to identify the person.
Each member of Safely Home® is issued a bracelet which identifies the person by first name and includes the information: "Memory loss, call police." All personal information provided on the registration form and entered into the national database is kept confidential.
2. Safe return of the person
The RCMP database includes information on whom to call if a person with memory loss is missing. This helps police return the person home as soon as possible.
3. Access to the member's information beyond a local area
Local and provincial police, as well as the RCMP, are able to access the national database. This enables all levels of police to identify the person and arrange for a safe return home anywhere in Canada.
4. Peace of mind for the person, family and caregivers
Knowing that you (or the person you support) are registered with Safely Home® can give you added peace of mind if you do become disoriented and lost.
